Fluorescence Spectral Study of the Solubilization of 1, 10-Phenanthroline In Micellar Surfactant Solution

چکیده
Micellar solubilization is a powerful alternative for dissolving hydrophobic compounds in aqueous environment. Fluorescence and absorption spectroscopy are the two techniques used to monitor the micellar solubilization studies of 1,10-phenanthroline. 1,10-Phenanthroline is a heterocyclic organic compounds. It is a bidantate ligand and is commonly used as a chelating agent for metal ions. It's complexes with Co, Cu, Fe and Zn are widely used for antifungal and antimicrobial activity. The emission intensity of 1,10-phenanthroline is significantly enhanced in nonionic and anionic micellar media. The solubilizing action of the surfactant has also been determined by theoretical calculated spectral parameters like empirical fluorescence coefficient, quantum yield, molar absorption coefficient and stokes' shift value. The fluorescence as well as the theoretically calculated spectral data has been used to characterize the heteroenvironment of the micelles in terms of their polarity, probe solubilization site and critical micellar concentration (CMC). This article briefly discusses the importance of surfactants in biological system model as well as the use of micelles in pharmacy as an important tool that finds numerous applications.

متن کاملFLUORESCENCE SPECTRAL STUDY OF THE SOLUBILIZATION OF BENZO [a] PYRENE IN MICELLAR SURFACTANT SOLUTION
Benzo[a]pyrene is one of a group of chemicals called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, PAHs for short, and found in cigarette smoke, in the exhaust from automobiles and coal tar. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are toxic environmental pollutants that are known or suspected carcinogens or mutagens. Bioremediation has been used as a general way to eliminate them from the contaminated sites...

This study demonstrates the spectral data for two triarylmethane dyes, malachite green (MG) and crystal violet (CV) at room temperature. Effects of micellar environment, and crown ether addition on the spectral behaviour of the dyes were studied using absorption spectroscopic method. The dye-anionic surfactant interactions in micellar media were investigated. The chosen surfactants with differe...

متن کاملSpectrophotometric Determination of Acidity Constants of Thiamine in Water, Water-Triton X-100 Micellar Media Solutions
In this work the acidity constants of Thiamine in water and water-Triton X-100 micelle media solutions, at 25 °C, have been determined spectrophotometrically. To evaluate the pH- absorbance data, a resolution based on the combination of soft-and hard-modeling is applied. The acidity constants of all related equilibria are estimated using the whole spectral fitting of the collected data to a...
